This was my response to reading the lyrics to piss factory by Patti Smith.
I started thinking about my time spent cotton chipping as a teenager and the hard core things we use to do, like climbing up onto rail line bridges, waiting for the train to come then jumping off into the river below just as the train came into sight. On one particular occasion we got into some trouble when a random man at a caravan park gave us money to pick up some weed for him. We went for a drive out of town and just as we arrived at the house of the dealer, a big group of young kids appeared and surrounded the car. They smashed all the windows, tore my shirt, took the money and held a knife up to my friend’s throat. Next thing you know a car of men pull up beside us and ask the kids what’s going on. I thought they had come to rescue us but the men turn out to be the kids uncles, who told us to leave town. We drove off and the men followed us in their car. We drove out of town, dumped the car and hid near an airstrip until the evening. We eventually drove back to the caravan park to tell the man who gave us the money what had happened. He didn't believe us even though it was obvious the car was all busted up. He took my friends drivers licence and his family watch. He took us down to the bridge and showed us a kids pool that had a dead dog in it. He told us that's what would happen to us if we didn't get his money back. We got our work pay, gave his money back and left town with all the windows broken.
